Mr. Marblehall has two wives. Nobody seems to care.

"A Memory" is about a main character (probably a girl) with no name that I could find. She goes to the beach and watches this family. Nothing much happened.

In "The Hitch-hikers" one of them tries to steal Harris's car.

"Why I Live at the P.O" is about "Sister" who works at the post office. She does quite a bit of overtime there to avoid her obnoxious family.

From "Kella, the Outcast Indian Maiden": The story is about circus people. Steve hits Max in the jaw. Who's the outcast Indian maiden? Little Lee Roy
may be a circus character pretending to be the maiden. Who knows? The story is really vague.

The Key in the short story of the same name, possibly symbolizes something strange and unlooked for.

Mr. Petrie is "The Petrified Man" in a circus freak show. He's also wanted for raping four women, reward $500.

"The Petrified Man" is the second story. Mrs. Fletcher is pregnant, the subject of beauty shop gossip.

"Lily Daw and the Three Ladies": The xylophone player insists he's going to marry Lily.

The book actually ends on p. 424. The rest of it is endnotes etc. I don't think Clarke dug very deeply. He final marriage did seem rather happy, though. He looked a lot younger than she was, but it didn't seem to matter.

Mickey Deans was one of her last relationships. He was a kind of "fixer".

Liza felt like she had to prevent Judy from killing herself. "It's just so terrible, because I love her so much. And I don't know what to do."

Judy suffers an overdose in Hong Kong. Her mother started her on a reliance on pills that ultimately killed her.

Judy finally gets rid of Sid Luft, who'd been bleeding her dry, but she kept the kids.

Judy isn't much in demand for another movie; she does performances instead in most of the major cities: ". . . in 1959 making much-praised appearances in all three of America's major opera houses---New York, Chicago and San Francisco. In New York, her seven nights at the Metropolitan grossed an estimated $190,000, close to a record for any theater, anywhere."

Ethel, Judy's mother, dies. She was a stage mother.

Judy's drug problem (mostly sleeping pills) was well known. She addicted it. She said, "I am an addict. And when I want something, I can get it."

"Easter Parade" is a big hit for Judy. She needed it as it lifted her depression.

Judy seemed to have a thing for bi-sexual men. Her father was the first, now Vincent Manelli, and I think one or two of her other husbands were as well.

Joe Mankiewicz was one of Judy's many lovers. He got her to undergo psychoanalysis.

Wow! Judy had an affair with Tyrone Power, but he wouldn't leave his wife.

"Babes in Arms" is such a big hit that Mickey and Judy become a pair.

Clarke traces Judy's early love life in Hollywood.

Judy takes a celebrity swing through Grand Rapids, Minnesota, her home town. She wonders what life would've been like if she'd never left.

Louis B. Mayer, who signed Judy to an extended contract, was God. When Judy's mother wanted to discipline her, she would say, "I'll tell Mr. Mayer!"

Judy's mother contributed to her drug problem, really early, at the age of ten, when she gave her pep pills to deal with her flagging energy. I also didn't know her early nickname was "Babe".
