Some cute stuff, like a kid playing "Puff, the Magic Dragon" on a zither. Adam also gets married; like all great marriages, he marries his best friend.

Adam wins an Oscar for a screenplay. Author, John Irving, won one in 2000 for his screen play for "Cider House Rules".

Em, one of Adam's lady friends, has written a book: COME HANG YOURSELF. She's bitter about one of her friends who was shot and killed during a performance.

Irving is fixated on the ghosts now, but he never properly introduced them in the first place. They're not believable.

This is a real door stop. I can barely lift it. Matthew, Adam's son, can see the ghosts as well. Adam's mother shows up as well and the "snowshoer". I'm not sure who the snowshoer is. Irving assumes you know.

Ghost and the living intermix; Irving treats them the same. You can't really tell which is which unless he tells you. If you know a character is a ghost, by the time you see him or here again you don't remember.

I think it's pretty cute, putting Lex Barker, in his book. I actually remember him from when I went to actual movies. We had a theater in our small town, population around 850. Movies are always better in a theater. I think Johnny Weissmuller (sp.) also played Tarzan. Irving could've used him. Some of us old fogies would remember him, too.

Adam tells Grace Paul Goode is his father.

I wonder if Irving asked himself if this book was too long. Well, I'll do it for him. "Hey, John! This book is too long!" 889 pages.

He's now going over Paul Goode's movies. Adam is pretty sure Paul Goode is his father.

There are a couple of suicides. Irving didn't give us any hints this was going to happen.

Adam's mom seems to be dying.

Funny line about one of Adam's girlfriends not wanting to read MOBY DICK because she thought it was about a penis.

Adam's girlfriend Grace is pregnant. His son Matthew would be born the first week of March. He was 49. He was amazed at his fear of losing his child.

This is all over the place. Sounds like the characters might suddenly be in a movie.

Too many minor characters. This is a mess.

Adam meets three women tourists at the Hotel Jerome.

"You've just met a woman you really like, but you need to tell her that the first man she imagined losing her virginity to is your father."

Adam is now living in Manchester, Vermont. He still hasn't met Grace, but he talks about her as if he has.

Will Adam move to Vermont and marry Grace? His friends have him lined up to do so, perhaps making up his mind for him.

Em participates in protests against the Catholic church; she'd gone to a Catholic school as a young girl. Condemnation against using condoms to stop the spread of AIDS was an issue for her.

Adam has a thing for his friend Em. Mr. Barlow, his old teacher, accuses him of fictionalizing their relationship.: "You're imagining that you and Em are a couple, that you're already together--this is how you look at her," he said.

Most likely Em has just lost her true love, Nora.

Adam has a thing for Em, one of the women he's been hanging with. He does hint that Em may have been more interested in Nora. He refers to Nora, who recently died, as the love of Em's life. Em has told him to quit looking at her "like that".
