The fact that about half of this book is written in second person perspective is kind of throwing me off. Listening to the audiobook instead of reading the words helps, but it's still weird.

Have I missed something? Why do they automatically kill anyone who has been infected? Like why is that a law?

I adore Rachel Reid's writing style, but I desperately wish she would stop writing 20-something-year-old jocks saying, "As if," like they're a bunch of valley girls. Unless that's modern slang among Canadian hockey players?

"I am bisexual," Ilya said, nodding. "Shane is super gay."
"I'm *regular* gay!" Shane argued.

It's like Ilya has to pester everyone all the time or he'll just explode.

I'm so happy Ilya is in this book so much, I missed him.

Sometimes Katherine Addison's books make me feel like I'm reading them in a language that I know well but am not completely fluent in. I'm slightly confused through the whole thing.

I like when characters in this book mention Ilya, Shane, or Scott. I'm like, "Hey, I know those guys!"

I'm picturing the Rats' bishop as Moira Rose in the outfit she wore to David's wedding.

"Oh Band-aid, you are so fucking pretty."
I'm reading this at work and trying not to cackle too loudly.

I absolutely hate the age gap going on here. It just makes me cringe every time.

The humans in this book are all so annoying that at this point, I'm actually rooting for the spiders.

I feel like this author writes giant intelligent spiders better than he writes human women.

"I asked her if she liked media and she said yes." Oh Murderbot. Hey human, do you like things?

"I absorbed the deathly visage, trying and failing to match it with the voice in my head. The revenant had devoured the populations of entire cities; it was also the entity who ordered me to eat my pottage.
'I'll have you know that I'm very good-looking by undead standards,' the revenant remarked."

Watney kind of speaks/writes like he's a 16 year old boy.

Thus far, this book is much more violent than the rest of the series.

I have a horrible feeling that this book is going to break my heart.

I'm glad that I'm reading this on my kindle so I can use the dictionary feature. So many new (to me) words.

Linus reminds me strongly of Aziraphale.

I'm only on chapter 2 but I already love Joe. I want to put him in my pocket and keep him safe.

I've had this book since Christmas but have put off reading it for months because I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the first one or the movie.

There's a group of people in this book called the "morgage", but I keep reading it as "mortgage", and it's kind of exhausting.
