Still working on the Book of Joshua.

I'm using the NOAB w Apocrypha for the Good Book Club reading of the Gospel According to John for the season of Epiphany.

Picking this up again at the Book of Joshua.

I'm now at Joshua.

I started this book for research on my next writing project and could not put it down. Ah, the political intrigues and uses of faith for bad behavior!

Bogged down in the Book of Joshua. I'm ready to pick up where I left off, though.

At location 560 - this book took off and just keeps going! So far, I'm thinking Hi-Octaine Katniss Everdeen with PTSD and it's a good thing.

Finally made it to Joshua. Things will now get more interesting.

Finished with Leviticus (which means "priest's manual"), and now two chapters into Numbers.

I'm starting Leviticus.

Up to Exodus. I read the Oxford OAB and then read the commentary in the Harper Collins edition.

Still plodding through this plodding book - the data is good.

Almost done with this great story. I love the author's descriptions of medieval bookmaking.

I would enjoy this more if the work had been edited and historical errors had been corrected, e.g., Harold Godwinsson (Harold II) did not have a brother named Ralph. It is also mentioned that King Cnut gave Harold and his wife Edith Swannsha a gift; Cnut was dead by the time Harold was named Earl of East Anglia and married Edith.

Better than the TV series, but if you don't know Cricket, "The Hat Trick" will trip you up.

Once again, the book is nothing like the TV show, and better.

Stayed up late reading last night. Why ever did they delete a lot of this book for the mini series? I've got to stop whining about that series. I'll be sorry when this book is finished; I'm enjoying it so much.

I'd love it if someone would make a new mini-series from this book and its predecessor and follow the books. It would be more than 5 episodes, but oh, how wonderful it would be!

Really loving this book. So much had to be left out of the television series for time and cost considerations, no doubt, so I'm glad to read the complete story.

The story gets more interesting and medieval life comes alive! Love it!

The richness and depth of description just grabs you! I love the detail used in describing the building/repair of the cathedral, the less-than-holy lives of the community of the Priory.

Once again, the video adaptation is entertaining and holds its own, but the book is so much better.

Again, this is much better than the television mini-series, which, in its own right, was good.

Reading a book almost 40 years after you originally read gives you a new perspective. Other than my persistent whine about the anachronistic covers (the cross-eyed, arrogant chick on "Some Touch of Pity" in a dress that is no late-15th century English but looks like something out of CW's "Reign" or Starz' "The White Princess" puts me off), I may not finish reading the books. They're not as good as I remember.

SO much better than the excellent television series. Eagerly waiting to read "World Without End" and the third book in the series that comes out i November.
