I'm around 1/3rd in and unfortunately the writing & worldbuilding didn't grab me... the central mystery is intriguing at the start but it feels like a lot of the facts are obscured for no reason other than keeping things mysterious. I'll push through until halfway before deciding whether to DNF or not, hope Islington will prove me wrong

Okay I'm locked IN. LOVE the vibes of the world-building so far. Plant-based technology! Inhumane biological alterations! Literal leviathans ramming itself towards a massive manmade sea wall every particular season, permanently altering the society, technology and even governmental systems!

Blazing through this one too. Love the addition of Steris into the main cast (finally). Can’t wait to learn more of the lore and also get back to Kelsier’s crew in the next one

After I'm done with this I think I'm taking a break from reading or reread Locked Tomb instead. Anyways I've been enjoying Mistborn, will definitely check out the rest of the Cosmere eventually

So far I find the writing a little pretentious lmao.....also a little meandering, though the latter may have a good payoff later on since I'm only 1/3rd in. Right now it's very reminiscent of Station Eleven but more unfocused (which says a lot considering how Station Eleven was also all over the place imo)

Sanderson really does have a way with words that’s making fantasy easily digestible to people who aren’t familiar with the genre. Compared to the Fifth Season (which I had to take a break from as a fantasy newbie), this was a breeze to get into. I’ll be slowly making my way through it as a palate cleanser in between the non-fiction books

On one hand, rich tech bros are driven by greed and out of touch with reality? Yeah, obviously. I could have told you that. On the other hand, well, some people are being deliberately obtuse about that and this book is a fantastic breakdown of the toxic tech bro ideal.

Also as an aside, it surprises me how positively Zuckerberg viewed the Indonesia visit with Jokowi

Delightfully morbid and way too hilarious for a book about murders. I'm having a blast

Not even halfway into the book and everything happened so much.

King really is a legend, I've rarely read a book so dense that doesn't sacrifice its pacing, but 11/22/63 somehow kept going at a steady pace. And for a time travel book, I'm pleasantly surprised by how it could still keep me guessing. Stakes are consistently high too even though technically you could do a do-over.
