CW for childhood sexual assault. Even though I thought it might be the case it still hit me hard.

I’m not sure how many stories in I am but every one so far has been five stars. At this point I’ll probably just note which ones aren’t (if any) and include that in my final review. ^_^

I somehow have a crush on every single character, wtf? I love it.

Seriously, someone with these kind of anger issues should not be solely in charge of children.

So I get having bad thoughts about kids in your care and that’s understandable, we’re allowed bad thoughts. I’ve often thought badly about children in my care (which, to be fair, is part of why I left childcare). But this woman... I feel like she should find a new profession. This is more than some bad thoughts. It’s continuous. (To be fair maybe I’m being judgmental. This is a really stressful situation.)

Okay, I’m sure I’m going to love this, but I’m already thinking “but make it gay.” XD

I’m not sure if the discussion of indigenous people is very good in this book. Also, more uncomfortable cis-ness. Much like the first book, otherwise I’m loving this one so far.

Everyone in this book sucks. Also it’s not ocean horror, there’s nothing rampantly eating people, and that makes me sad (my own fault, should have read the description and not assumed based on the author). I’ll be finishing it but only because it’s short. XP

On one hand, some weird cis- and all-ness.

On the other hand, FUCK. YEAH. POLYAM. REP!

That being said I do love how straightforward everyone is being from the beginning.

Whelp. First chapter. Not a fan of the weird “he was a man and therefore he had to look at her boobs.” 🙄

All the CWs. Miscarriage, child abuse, domestic abuse, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, racism, macro- and micro-aggressions, fetishization, humans being shitty

But, like, it’s REALLY GOOD.

This book is ridiculous and over the top and I am hooked.
Problems so far: underage MC sleeping with fully grown adults. Will maybe be addressed? Also you’ve got to suspend some disbelief.

MASSIVE trigger warnings for sexual assault and trust violations (telling someone about someone else being sexually assaulted without their permission)

JOKE’S ON ME he doesn’t live in the “bad part of town” he’s just visiting and that’s where we meet him. So, I suck a little, but this book has improved.

Nice things: The dog has not yet died.

Less nice things: Not impressed with the classism. Worried there might be some questionable things re: race (so far the only POC lives in “the bad part of town”).

I’m worried I should just stop now while I’m feeling satisfied. I’m not going to, but if I hate the ending consider this an “I told you so” from past me to future me.

Oh wow. Okay. I’m loving this.

Okay, apparently in this edition the prequel starts the prequel (Origins) around here. So here we go, I guess?

Well this has taken the turn for the ridiculous and I love it.

Well, that was weird. A couple sentences at the beginning of chapter Decisions changed from past to present tense.

Use of the f-slur at the beginning of the chapter Jaws.

Wow, okay, very obviously written by a man. He tried to include some discussion of sexism early in the book, but there were some pretty gross comments in this chapter.
