I like the phrase "modern folklore" that the author uses. While the Navajo culture and religion are not fantasy, would this still be a fantasy book because the water monster speaks to Nathan? From my own perspective, I consider any book that has religious elements and interactions between beings that are unlikely to show up in my backyard (especially Christian ones) to be fantasy.

This is NOT the sequel to The Strangers (Greystone Secrets). Was thinking it would be.
