I read this way way back in the day but by the time the second book came out I had forgotten some things and I didn't want to reread it every year when the next book came out so I put it off until the series was finished. I don't know if it's finished or not but Humble Bundle just had a book bundle of all the Foreigner books so far plus the Chanur ones and others. So Finally I am able to delve into this series.

I'm on the last book in the series. I'm eager to see how things end but I don't want to finish because I will miss some of these characters.

This is so good! Though I really hope that none of the dragons gets butchered for parts that supposedly have magical healing properties. I hate animal death.

Yep, what I suspected she (the author) was hinting at turned out to be true. I like those subtle hints just tossed into descriptions and paragraphs of normal stuff where one might overlook it or dismiss it. She's also very good at getting inside a character's head and showing how different characters view the same thing.

It's a bit slower than stuff I'm used to in recent times but still good. I love how she hints at stuff. And often the characters are clueless but the reader is like "I'm pretty sure blah blah blah" and waits to see.

It's been a decade or two since I read any Robin Hobb so let's see what I think of her writing now that I'm an "old fogey".

Okay this is kind of creepy. Tchaikovsky seems to be dipping his toe into the horror genre a little.

This is really good. I have a good guess about who the bad guy is but I'll probably be wrong as usual.

Squee!!! I can't wait to starting reading, Ana swearing like a sailor and acting weird while Din broods as he fulfills Ana's instructions and helps solve whatever mystery there is. They are the new Odd Couple.

I got 10 pages left. That's it. I should really finish this book some day so it's off the "Currently Reading" area. I have to be in the mood for it though, Reed's writing can sometimes be difficult for me. I find my mind drifting and have to re-read passages.

Thank you NetGalley! I get to read this before it gets published.

This book is so freaking good!

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for a good ending. So far, the series that I have read of hers have not had the greatest endings. More like the story kind of trails off and keeps going after the end and we're left wondering what happens next and have to live our lives without finding out.

I just ate up the first book and can't wait to see what happens next. I love a love interest where there is animosity at the beginning and one or both do not like the other. But then they find they can't stop thinking about the other.

Well crap. This seems to be noirish and I dislike noir. Makes it difficult for me to want to read.

I want to write like he does. Wow, it's just...I have no words to describe how great the writing is. The decisions he had to make about which character to view which scene through. And even though he has a few characters that could be stock: girl who wants to be a famous influencer, a nun, a rabbi--they seem like real life characters, it's amazing.

I am whipping through this book fast. I hope the author does a better job wrapping up all the threads in this series as opposed to the previous two series I read by her. There's just so much going on, characters here there and everywhere that we are following their adventures that I wonder how she can wrap it all up in the pages left.

Ok, I'm confused. just about a third of the way through (guesstimate) suddenly we are reading about a tiny tribe of the Jaran. Now the Jaran series was science fiction. But the rest of the book and previous one seems fantasy since there's ghosts and guardians who are immortal and have flying horses. How can one part of the world be SF and the other part Fantasy? Doesn't make sense.

This protagonist really annoys me. And if your main character is annoying, it's not a good sign. He really is an asshole. Lazy. Complains constantly. Blames other people for what is really his lack of a good work ethic. I mean, they're not gonna promote you when you goof around and bitch and moan when you're supposed to be working. Note to authors: make characters likeable.

I won this giveaway from GoodReads. Never read this author before so I have no idea what to expect.

This is going to be a hard one to rate the number of stars. There's no main characters but certain characters that we follow. We start reading in the land called The Hundred for a bit, then suddenly we're off the map down south in a psuedo-Chinese culture and we're with them for a long time until we're back in the Hundred a year or so after we left them and things are bad and getting worse.

I did a little squee when there was a reference to Jaran. The setting of this book must be on the other continent on the Jaran world (forget what it's called). Which is really cool because I was wondering if she was going to come back to that world.

I should really finish this book before starting to read a new one but I keep forgetting about it. It's a good book but pretty cerebral and I have to be in the right mood for it.

This book consists of 3 short novels, one of which I previously bought and read not knowing that it would be included in this book. Ah well. He's my favorite author so I don't mind giving him some extra money.

This is a great book. At first I was kind of like "what am I reading? this doesn't sound like this author's other stuff". I kept reading and was rewarding by interesting characters, and an evolving plot that is diabolical once you figure it out yourself or else wait until the reveal.

Almost done. But everything is in disarray. I don't know how the author will finish all the threads by the end.

This series is so good. I wish I had read it back when I was younger. I'm on the last book now. Fingers crossed for a good ending!

Oooh I recognized a name from the author's Highroad series, and another character, who is a friend of the name I recognize, has characteristics that remind me of another character from Highroad. But it seems the Jaran novels take place before the Highroad ones, which means I might get to witness certain events mentioned in Highroad. I keep waiting, and waiting...

I read the first book by itself so now I'm on the 2nd book. Buying them in this bundle was cheaper than buyer the rest of the books by themselves.

SQUEE!!!! A new Murderbot novel. SQUEE!!!!
