A good premise ruined by characters who annoy each in their own special way. Struggling to get through this. So many stupid actions and most of the actions taken for the love of an undeserving person. I think our protagonists are the villains of the novel.

DNF.

On my way to a DNF. Not really finding the characters compelling enough to fill in for the slow pacing and lack of tension. The mystery is also less than compelling. Tempting to just read the last chapter or two and be done with it. Also the American pop culture references are weird and immersion breaking.

This is like a coming of age novel but for annoying and kind of stupid new adults. Not enjoying Ryan’s side of the story at all. Miles is more interesting and Lucy is relatable. I’m finding myself just wanting the book to be over. I just want to reach the conclusion so I can confirm what is going on, move on.

How does this book have such a high rating? Every time these girls go out they get mind f**ked and/or raped in one form or another. Infuriating. Mind boggling that readers like this so much.

Welcome to Zodiac Academy where everyone is an asshole. I haven’t read a book this full of dominating assholes since I started reading romance books from the 80s. Every page comes with rage. I hope this gets better.

DNF. I just have no desire to go back to this book. So disappointing. The subject was perfect. Would love to read more about the artists.

So far I’m just sad this is being more a sexy times novel than a historical fiction novel. I don’t mind sex in romance novels (historical fiction I’m not so sure about) but I’m not sure why it’s included so often in this book. Was there not enough going on for these people that the author had to provide sexy time filler? Right now it’s feeling more like a missed opportunity than anything else.

My guilty pleasure. Though pleasure is still in question. Could be guilty hate read? Or guilty dislike read? Not sure yet. The husband is sure being an ass.

I wonder how Hemingway would feel about being the subject of a self help/motivation/inspiration book. I’m half way through. A short book that never seems to end.

Unexpected

I wish I felt more compassion for Lucy.

Maybe I should have read more about this book. I cannot express accurately how little interest I have in the inner workings of the Mormon church. Undecided whether I will continue
