I know it’s a classic and a lot of people get something from it but I hated every second I spent reading it and life is short.

I love how this is written, but it’s going to take a while because nonfiction sometimes makes me sleepy. 😂

I love Shirley Jackson so much. I’m wondering if my book club is liking this (it was my pick). I’m going to have to go in prepared to not be upset if they don’t. 😅

The humor is somehow dated despite being new but it’s fun so far, kind of like the show Ghosts.

Why did we decide the excellent group dynamic of Cas, Poppy, and Kieran should be gone this book? Why is Thorne, a character that did not thrill me in ruin and wrath, my favorite character in this? Oh it’s because he has Cas’ missing personality, while Cas has adopted the personality of a potato. I was looking forward to the vibes from the last two books and I don’t know what happened here. 🫠

I read a summary again because there’s something about these books I just don’t like. It makes no sense because I love From Blood and Ash so much. I just don’t relate to Sera and Ash and the writing feels different. Idk 🫠

I love this story because it's unnerving in just the weirdness. Everyone is off putting but also endearing (except the cousin). I also love Jackson's ability to make the mundane feel abnormal and how the village or the "normal" characters are the problem, and the characters who have abnormalities and/or done something wrong come across as flawed but better humans overall.

I happen to be reading this back to back with a Shirley Jackson novel and I didn't realize until right now that her writing is so similar to Jackson's. I think this is maybe why I was drawn to her stuff because Jackson is one of my favorites. It's got the same meandering vibe that makes you uneasy just because you feel like you're not moving.

This isn’t likely a forever DNF but I’m just not in the mood and this is a 14 day book at my library. 🫠

Sadly Libby took this back and I hate the audio so I’ll be waiting 12 weeks to finish it 😭

I hated Silver Elite and DNF'd it, but I deleted my actual thoughts because people cannot stop screaming at other people for negative reviews. It's an absolutely insane take that people shouldn't post negative reviews. It's also annoying to not be able to have a specific opinion without someone being upset about it, it's just a book! WE ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS! FFS.

I'm really enjoying this book, but the relationship in this is so weird. Seemingly William loves a girl he barely speaks to because honestly it seems like she was the first girl he thought was pretty? She's super weird and doesn't even seem to really like him, but they're getting married. Good plan my man.

I hated this book in high school and I don’t think this time is going to be better. I hate reading about nothing but awful characters. You need a redeeming one and this book doesn’t have it.

Her writing style is not it for me, but the story is intriguing so I’m trying to just deal with it. It’s so choppy and I have a weird thing about really short sentences, which is a me thing I know. 🫠

Okay, so the FMC is so cringey to me like she’s cheering for a boy band and I am honestly embarrassed for her but I’m pressing on.

I'm bored. And also it's nonsense that they couldn't just tell literally everyone but the people at Charlie's job that they were switching places. There's legit zero reason it was an issue if they swapped to anyone else and the entire plot of this could have been avoided. lol

Finally met Raihn and let me just say I am such a sucker for a smirking man who pins a man to a wall and 🔪 him 🤣🤣

Spotify is so expensive and it won't let you do more than 15 hours of audiobooks... so now I'm waiting a month to finish this.

I stand by that people are CRAZY if they hated how the story went with Kieran in book four because the story only gets better with him also taking care of Poppy. Also learned that the scene that involves Cas and tears is devastating if you listen to the wrong song with it. lol

I am so glad I’m doing this on audio because it’s interesting to just listen to while doing something else but I fear it would be the most boring thing on earth to read physically. I always love witch related topics so I’m still into it but I’d definitely needs that 2x speed

I've read the first page. I hate when a library hold comes in and you're not in the mood for it. I am going to attempt to read it some today.
