Something that is distracting me from the story is wondering why, in this story that is ostensibly set in our current day, the adults around our protagonist don't seem to have made any attempt to get her therapy re: the deaths of people she cares about.

Wow, this one is so raw and intense. I feel like it's going to be an ugly sob at the end.

Omg Khai, you big dummy. This is such a stressful bleak moment.

Oh no. Everything is catching up to the characters and it doesn't look good. I'mma be so tense until I get to the HEA.

*SLAPS ROOF* You can fit so much *longing* in this book. It's everything I hoped it would be.

This one feels like Quinn is phoning it in. The exposition is just clunky and the dialogue feels forced, even from the incorrigible Lady Danbury.

I'm starting to get distracted by his use of the word believe/belief.

"Are we wired to be passive and inert? Or are we wired to be active and engaged? I'm convinced it's the latter--that our basic nature is to be curious and self-directed. And I say that not because I'm a dewy-eyed idealist, but because I've been around young children ... Have you ever seen a six-month-old or a one-year-old who's *not* curious and self-directed? I haven't. That's how we are out of the box."

I've had people suggest or ask why I don't do more crocheting or knitting for commission, and my response has been "Because then it's work." But I will occasionally do something for some barter with a friend if it's a project I'll enjoy working on. Boom. Intrinsic motivation vs extrinsic. This seems very clear and logical to me so far.

After a reading mojo stall-out, I picked this back up and Holy moly is it really good. Blasted through about 50% of it in one sitting of a long baby nap.

This has been super slow going for me. I'm entertained when I do read it but not terribly motivated to pick it up between readings. Gonna try to buckle down and finish it.

Hero just brought heroine chocolate and wine because she was on her period. Good book boyfriend.

Simon gave her a startled look. "I don't believe I have ever been condescended to by a woman before."
She shrugged. "It was probably past time."
