Chapter 5. We’ve now upgraded descriptions to “Italian-American” and “Latino.”

Anticlimactic first 10%. Much of what I read doesn’t make a lot of sense. Sounds like the FMC is cursed, and wants her magic gone, meanwhile her BFF goes missing into some artwork after saying, “hey, the lady is in the frames. I’m going to do some dangerous spell work to find her.”

Finished Chapter one. Interesting so far, only thing is it’s distracting how she describes the appearance of characters. I had to go back and count (no less than NINE times) the author describes someone as just “white” or “black.” Characters that have a single line of speech don’t necessarily need a description, and then that description is as basic as “white girl.” It’s distracting.
