I'm a year late on this one... This was the book everyone was talking about LAST fall. I don't usually read stories like this one, but life is rough right now and I need a refresh between spooky season books to tide me over 😅 a cozy, fall book was in order.

"So the oranges and blues and greens of the [Mardi Gras] Indian costumes are something beautiful to behold, like the first flowers to bloom after the fallout...They haunt me, almost as much as the spray paint on the front of a house that says 1 Dead in Attic. They look like ghosts hanging there. They are reminders of something. Something very New Orleans."

Only 60 pages in and hoping this keeps up, but this may become one of my favorite books ever.

Can't say I'm loving this so far. I am really hoping Lestat redeems himself because I actually cannot stand him at all right now.

I read this many years ago in school and unfortunately, I don't think my adolescent was willing to accept the atrocious Wiesel recounts here. Only 15 pages in and I can absolutely see and remember why this book is so important.

I'm missing New Orleans, so I pulled the next one off my stack of "when you miss New Orleans" books.

This book will make you hate men 😅
