It’s well paced and surprisingly good - the protagonist is grieving but her voice is witty and sarcastic so you can’t help but empathize with her and root for her recovery. I never thought I would enjoy a book dealing with the aftermath of the main character’s husband suicidal. But I keep reading because it’s good and I keep wondering “why?”

It’s a page turner, similar to Ghosted, dropping subtle hints about what’s coming up. So far the story has taken a couple of unexpected twists but it’s a great read.

I’m not typically a historical fiction fan, but this is Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’m already sucked into the story, fully vested in Monique’s determination to make something of herself and Evelyn’s strong willed intentions to tell her story. I’m hanging on every word and it’s just the beginning. I want to highlight half of what I’ve read so far, but don’t want to mark up a hard back book.

It’s interesting how the story unfolds through flashbacks, slow buildup, slight details dropped here and there to reveal sibling traits and/or rivalry. I find myself cringing when ‘Father’ comes into the story but perhaps the worst is yet to come! Surprisingly this is a page turner for me.

I’m enjoying this read! It’s beautifully written with poetic language and amazing descriptions. I love the characters and how they’re blended in with the music - which is a strange thing to say about a book - but the way the songs are described, I feel compelled to listen. Luckily there’s a Spotify playlist!

It’s slow paced, but written beautifully, almost poetic as song titles are dropped in and I try to hear the music as I read.

I love the author’s style. She has a calm, subdued tone, yet she says so much through the characters’ actions, thoughts and dialogue. I especially enjoy the interactions between Josh and Nastya - I like how their relationship slowly builds. I think this will easily become one of my favorite books and I’m not even sure how it will end!
