Carter and the men of Old Village are blinded by the money James has invested into their little side project. And the fact that they take no stake in what their wives have to say is wild. They would be the first to die in a horror film if $100 dollar bills were being waved by the killer in a dark alleyway.

Carter mom knowing the name of the women who took care of his mother and tried to save her life is wild. I’m noticing a pattern of absence that seems negligent. No wonder James is able to keep Patricia so intrigued. Her own husband doesn’t even pay attention to the goings on in his home.

This is the book that’s getting me out of my reading slump 👏🏾🎬
