Okay Tory’s Darcy-chose-Orion-over-me bs is getting on my nerves. Darcy chose to stay w/ Lance for SO MANY REASONS. Not just to choose one over the other. Yes she wanted to stay w/ Orion but she also wanted to save her her sister by staying away. Lavinia could call her back too. Orion would pay more for it. Plus I feel like Darcy staying w/ Orion is what allowed her to remain fae. Its not all black & white, Tory!

I am 3 hours into this book, and NOTHING has really happened yet. A stranger was found and hidden. A girl was chosen to be a dragon rider. A visitor came to court and a spy found some letters. The queen’s love interest was sent off to die and got on a ship. Please let’s DO SOMETHING ACTIVE. 😩

The words to release a genie. Why do I get the feeling that it’s as simple as “You are free, genie.” She can’t lie. Why wouldn’t that work.

This just occurred to me. Amani was told she couldn’t leave, but what would happen if the rebels knocked her out and took her off the property? She would be leaving. She would be taken off the property.

You’ve given her everything?!? How about respect? Trust? Loyalty? Tolerance? Open-mindedness? Real, actual love? He is such a pig. I despise him so much.

Reid is straight up annoying. I love you. I just don’t love the person you really are. I hate magic. Magic saved my and my wife’s lives several times, but waaaahhhh, it also killed the people trying to kill us. Also Lou doesn’t tell me she’s a witch. Lou doesn’t tell me she saved Bos at the Tower. Lou keeps secrets. How dare she! 😑

I’m a fourth of the way into the book and really nothing has happened. Nothing that wasn’t given away in the summary. And she’s so freaking arrogant. And the fiancé is so freaking naive and useless. Bastion is the only character with some personality. At least he isn’t as cringeworthy as the rest.

So Tavin could tell that Kota was a black swan because he brushed up against him, but he can’t tell Fie in disguise is a crow?!?

I don’t like Antimony so far. For someone who’s open-minded about so many things, she is stupid and judge mental and closed-minded about her family. They don’t act the way I think they should because I’m naive and ignorant and a baby and definitely a brat.

Let me just say that Jax is one of my favorite characters, and I was devastated when I thought he was dead. Imagine my surprise and delight to discover that he is alive. That is the best part of this book so far.

I swear if I have to listen to how the good detective smells like clean soap again...ugh. Estep has a really really REALLY bad habit of describing things the exact same way...word for word as if she just copy and pasted it in from before. And she says that word-for-word about twenty times a book. 😩

It’s obvious that the fire elemental that burned Gin’s silver stone into her hand was Mab Monroe...continuing to call her “the fire elemental” and not name her, is ridiculous and stupid. And it’s insulting that Estep thinks she’s being clever by “hiding” who it is and “surprising” us later.

You know, Dorian. Instead of sitting there saying I don’t have time while a girl sits there begging and sobbing for you to end her torture, to end her life, just do it and move on.

I’m so disappointed. The blurb says Kara and the nameless interviewer would be in this book, so I figured they would bring them both back—like they did with Rose 😩😭

Eva is a bitchy, whiny thirteen year old in a nineteen year olds body.

She has to be the most annoying character ever. I can’t take much more of her whining.

I’m sorry, but Eva is pretty annoying.

So the first fourth of this book feels like absolutely nothing happens...all background basically, and the rest has crawled. I really hope that it picks up soon. I really want to like this series.

Seriously Mary Catherine is super freaking annoying. I mean Emily Parker and Tara are also freaking annoying but Mary Catherine just freaking takes the cake. 😩🤮 Just shoot me already. Whatever.
