Finished with the main content of Davachi's arguments, and on to her appendices (evaluation of instruments within the medieval period). Her evaluations are actually quite interesting to note, though - and this is purely my fault, perhaps - they seem a bit detached from what has turned out to be her main focus: the application of "medieval practice" as an aesthetic focus for contemporary performances.

Some interesting concepts of early music are presented within the constraints of the recorded medium, but they must be considered as such - their motivated reasonings do not quite apply toward live performance in any way beyond the circumstantial (due to the aesthetic preferences presented here), and precisely the repertory of "medieval music" is more informed toward the Fluxus and modern recreation of it.

Chapter XI has to be one of the most embarrassing works of projection I've had the displeasure to read.

oh my god how did anyone follow his train of thought? it runs in circular reasoning and is chock full of bad aphorisms that provide no profound kernels of wisdom

So many aphorisms mixed in with a hodge podge of abstractions and poor deductive reasoning (in that the conclusions are "supported" by vague and inconclusive points). It's legitimately hard to follow the belch of words produced here.

If there is one thing to take away from this book and its publication, it is this: Trump's newspaper-editorial campaigns, his insurrectionist tendencies, his fear-mongering through news outlets, and his inability to articulate clearly his position and stance upon worldly matters is not unique to him - it is clearly and quite evidently taken from this publication.

The introduction and translator's note do not celebrate this work, nor do they magnify the atrocities that would follow the publication of this work. But they (most importantly) illustrate the social conditions that would mark Hitler's rhetoric, and how his delivery - as well as his whitewashing of factual evidence for his own narrative - would come to define the atrocity of an entire nation.
