I had intended reading this as my next read but then I heard about and got involved in a group read of War and Peace. So, it's going back to the TBR shelf.

Well worth the read. Thought provoking but hopefully it's not just thoughts this book will provoke. I did feel on occasion that assertions were made without the evidence to back this up. Maybe, he considered some things as given, but I'm not so sure. The crowning glory of the book came with the warning in the last chapter. I hope many will heed this.

I first read this over 30 years ago. But with all the discussion going on following the TV which I wasn't able to see as I don't live in the UK, I decided to return to it. A nice long, lazy read for the Christmas holidays.

Dans un groupe dont je fais partie nous voulons, cette année, nous consacrer à la fiction historique pour explorer les différences entre l'histoire et sa représentation dans la littérature. Nous commençons avec ce livre. En plus je constate que je n'ai jamais lu ce livre même si j'ai vu différentes versions filmées dans ma jeunesse. Deux bonnes raisons pour lire ce livre maintenant.

A day's worth of stories per day of holidays proved to be too much. Just finished day four and persevering. These stories are very entertaining.
