This writing is what I had hoped The Great Gatsby would have been written like, with its fanciful, laissez-faire-but-still-somewhat-self-aware attitude.

I’ve got my fir scented candle (that’s close enough to pine, right? A tree is a tree is a tree) and I’m reading to keep chugging through this behemoth now that the MVP is back in town

I am quickly realizing that I do not like books where the parents are indirectly and/or directly being assholes to their kids 🙃

I want to like this book so bad, but the banter, the cornerstone of a romcom, is annoying the hell out of me. I think it’s because I’m not a huge fan of the characters as of right now, which is the same thing that happened to me with the first book :(

"'And what, pray tell, are the tenets of divine justice?'
'I don't know, how about fairness?' Amir said.
'Reward,' Oliver said, flicking a paper football at Amir.
'Goodness,' Noah said.
'Forgiveness,' I said.
'Retribution,' Evan said."
Oh, you sneaky author, you. Linking the characters' main traits to the tenets in a book focused on religion? I see you, Mr. Hopen.

These tiny chapters make me so happy :,)

I hope this book gets better ASAP because I am so bored and confused as to why everyone said this was so good 🙃

Bonus points to this book for featuring my favourite museum as a location (and for using historically accurate information: the Frick actually was closed for renovations recently, as it is during the book)

Weird how a character in this book has the same name as my cat and a character in the last book I read has the same name as my brother

AHH A TWIST!!

I don't think I've ever been this invested in a McManus book before. Milly reminds me of Stevie Bell from Truly Devious (which is a compliment). Hope things continue in an upward trend :^)

Not sure if I’m in the mood for this after finishing the behemoth that is Priory of the Orange Tree but we shall see! (Also I have to return this in like two weeks so it’s now or never)

I feel like this book is not really my best decision given the circumstances.

Wtf am I going to do after I finish this book. This is going to be the book hangover of the century, I can already tell.

Very excited to read this while I listen to the audiobook. Like...VERY excited. One might even say elated at the thought, of perhaps flush with joy. (K that’s enough sorry)

I am very bored of this book, but I’ve gotten this far so I feel like I should finish it. I know I probably would have liked it two or so years ago. The sports gays (as I heard sm call them) are disappointing me this time :(

“”What about Montreal this year? Will they be any good?”

“Probably,” Kyle says to Charlie after swallowing a mouthful of chicken.”

This is unrealistic. Montreal’s soccer team sucks :(

I’m listening to the least sleepy music I can think of (The Circle of Life from the Lion King) to make sure I don’t fall asleep while reading this.

I see what people mean when they say this book is hard to read. God, it’s so terrible watching this man treat Enchanted like this. I want to swaddle her up in a blanket whisk her far, far away from that asshole.

This started out pretty dry for me, since the writing was very heavy and really had a classics feel. It’s really picked up though, and I’m glad that now I’m actually wanting to read it instead of just picking it up because I want to learn from it. It took some getting used to, but I really like where the author is taking the story and how amazingly detailed it is.

If I have already guessed one of the major plot points.....I will be a) disappointed and b) disappointed

Just figured out how to access the Foxhole Court books on my phone instead of having to drag out my crusty old Kobo to read them. I truly am living my best life on this day.

Out of context, this quote is so strange. Even in context, this quote is strange.

I know what’s going to happen eventually but I really don’t want it to happen so I’m stuck in this vicious cycle of wanting to read about my gaybies but not wanting them to get hurt. (Can you tell by my sentence structure that I’m horribly distraught? Because I’m horribly distraught.)

Today’s my birthday, so I’ve decided it’s my saved duty as a bookworm to go treat myself to a book after work. It simply must be done!

Shout out to Stephen Fry for name dropping my home boy Percy, also known as the greatest son of Poseidon (no one likes you, Triton).

This is way more...uh...sexy then I was expecting.

Maybe now I can finally understand the Good Omens compilations YouTube keeps recommending me!
