Sovereignty
—> We owe God our obedience because he made us. He holds authority over us because he is our author. It is his natural right as our Creator.
—> I have control over my thoughts, which I can take captive by the power of the Holy Spirit. And if I can control my thoughts it follows that I can control my attitude. If my thoughts and attitude are in control, my words will be as well, and my actions.

-God‘s power is always active. He does not need to regain his strength. He does not require rest because “he does not faint or grow weary”
-Jesus’ miracles demonstrate power over the physical to point us to his power over the spiritual, to the greatest miracle: his power to transform my heart from stone to flesh
-His power is at work within us, helping us overcome sin and grasp the extent of his love for us

God knows all things, not because he has learned them, but because he is their origin
Free from the myth of human omniscience, we are free to mind our own business. The business of every believer is to understand what God has revealed - sufficient for salvation, needful for godliness, and worthy of meditation. It is the filter through which we learn to choose wisely what additional knowledge is good for our souls

Omnipresent
—> Paul expressed a desire to be “with Christ,” I know that he believe Jesus is promised to be with us always. Paul is eager for the time when his experience of the presence of Christ will be unclouded by the limits of his time-bound existence
—> The fact that he is witness to our every sin, public and private, should inspire us to vigilance. It should elicit from us confession and repentance

Just as my assurance of salvation rests in the fact that God cannot change, my hope of sanctification rests in the fact that I can
Every circumstance you encounter will change except the circumstance of your forgiveness. Every relationship you enter into will waiver except your adoption by your Heavenly Father
There is no rock but the Rock of our salvation. No human heart is so hard that he cannot soften it

Although I am not yet who I will be, I am not who I was.
When we invest our time in what has eternal significance, we store up treasures in heaven. This side of heaven, the only investments with eternal significance are people, which means prioritizing relationships over material gain
Tomorrow, if the Lord wills

Creating and sustaining all things, he is created and sustained by none. For all eternity he is perfectly provided for in and of himself
It is for us to say “I need thee every hour.” It is for him to say “I AM”
Self sufficiency: prayerlessness, forgetfulness, anger in trial, lack of conviction of personal sin, avoidance of Christian community, concealment, lack of accountability, lack of humility, exhaustion

There is no true knowledge of self apart from the knowledge of God.
Because he is limitless, the knowledge of who he is stretches to infinity. God is incomprehensible - this does not mean that he is unknowable, but that he is unable to be fully known
Knowing the best and the worst of me, he is neither impressed no horrified. He accepts me as I am because of Christ.

His limitlessness underlies all of his attributes; his power, knowledge, love, and mercy are not great merely great, but they are infinitely so
Our whole lives are to be given to the identification and celebration of the limits God has ordained for us. He lovingly teaches them to us through his Word, through discipline. He humbles us through these to remind us that we are not him.
Our limits teach us to fear the Lord

—> Any thought, word, or deed that compromises our ability to love God and our neighbour is folly
—> “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” James 1:5
—> Solomon displayed his wisdom by declaring “Bring me a sword”. So too must we use the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God to develop our discernment

—> The Bible declares that God himself is the benchmark for truth, the definer of reality, and that his creatures a subject to his definitions
—> if you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free – John 8:31-32
—> we can’t discern what’s false if we don’t train our eyes on what is true - the Word of God

—> to be human is to do daily battle with impatience. Anger quickly kindled, the anger of impatience, is a hallmark of the fool
—> When we view our own salvation as an expression and example of the perfect patience of Christ, we desire that our lives exemplify that patience. We begin to wait patiently on the Lord. We begin to be patiently with others, even those who are the foremost among sinners
