On the front cover it reads: "Dirty realism from the godfather of lowlife literature." The assortment of short stories in "Tales of Ordinary Madness" does honor to this phrase. The stories are, at times, raw. And women are often objectified by the main characters (men), which only underlines the sadness of those men's lives. Nonetheless, most of the stories are surely enjoyable to read. 3 Stars
