Susan is starting Elizabeth I: A Study in Insecurity
On April 13 I am going to Canterbury to hear Helen Castor talk about Elizabeth I, so it is only right that I read the book first. Really looking forward to the Tudors and Stuarts Weekend at Christchurch University, Canterbury, UK

This is a re-read. Initially read this in 2007 and loved it but as Book 3 is now available in paperback and Book 4 is about to be published, I decided to read Book 1 and Book 2 again.
It's probably an age thing ... my memory is not as good as it was. :)

Susan is reading The Outcasts of Time
I found this repetitive and trying too hard to be a history lesson covering many centuries. The main character was two dimensional and the strangers who assisted him gullable. Not my type of story ... felt like it was preaching.

This is good. Just found myself talking to a book... Henry Lord Darnley has just shown up and I am telling Mary not to fall for his superficial charms... Margaret George has me hooked again!

Oh my goodness... too much whining and too little about Katherine and Mary.

Susan is reading A Natural History of Dragons (The Memoirs of Lady Trent, #1)
Oh dear. This started so well and then lost my interest, mainly due to the style of writing (repetitious) and the tedious plot. Ploughed through to the end but did not regain my initial enthusiasm at the idea. What a shame.

"...it was the howling of the fire. It roared its rage. It was the voice of the Great Beast itself." St Paul's is burning, the Great Fire of 1666 is raging. The scene is set. I hope this is good...

Not a huge Gregory fan as I find here a bit repetitive when she is trying to get a point across. This is OK as a `light read' but having got halfway it is starting to be a little bit laboured.

Susan is finished with The Wilding
Must be something good if I read it in one day. However it is a grey December Sunday in England so that may contribute. Enjoyed it.

Susan is finished with Drakenfeld (Lucan Drakenfeld, #1)
Read more like action historical fiction than fantasy but enjoyed the adventure, particularly the character of Leana. Now off to the bookshop to see if the sequel is available.
