I don’t think the author remembers it was like to be in the first grade. The things he’s writing about these first graders seems like things kids in middle school would be doing.

Now we have transitioned to Beauty and The Beast with the young girl being forced to live with a horrifying creature that was made of many different animals. His home is extravagant and she describes a long table full of delicious food (cue the singing candelabra). And wouldn’t you know it, as the creature sits down to dine he transforms into a “golden-haired man.”

So far this book is starting out like every other fantasy, the impoverished mortal village is in danger from a supernatural force. I’m only 3 chapters in so I’ll give it time but I’m not impressed thus far
