The pacing is a bit slower in this one vs the others in the series. I don’t mind it though, especially on reread and knowing what to expect.

First time rereading this one. Curious if my thoughts will have changed.

Katniss loses another person (and the worst is yet to come.) If it’s not the tragic death of a loved one, it’s someone she admires and respects. There’s all kinds of tragedy afoot.

Gale is such an ass.

One of the few ways I think the movie adaptation outdoes the book is their inclusion of more Effie. I wish she was on page in Mockingjay frequently, like she was in Catching Fire.

I love having Buttercup back on the page.

The reread continues

I adore Cinna so much.

This is stressful, in a very good way.

Here is where I start to dislike Gale

This might be my ultimate favorite from all five books. Sunrise on the Reaping is also very close. I think once I finish the rereads, I’ll have to rank the series.

This one still hurts. Poor Rue.

Finally in the arena. Even knowing what’s happening / will happen, my heart rate is still up.

I can’t help myself, whenever the citizens of 12 or anyone salutes, I must too. It’s not exactly the same home alone in my reading nook, yet I must salute anyway.

I have so many books I could finish first, but the reread has called to me.

I’m not really loving this one. I keep forgetting about it everytime I sit it down.

The Other Foot & The Highway were my nightly reads. Now I’m ruminating on the framing story. Where are these stories placed physically? Does The Highway run along the spine of the Illustrated Man? Is The Other Foot placed where you’d expect it to be, or is it sneakily playing out across a bicep? And what does the narrator feel when witnessing such colorful impossibility? I have too many thoughts lol

Kaleidoscope was amazing. I want to read the whole collection immediately but I also want to pace myself. I don’t know which side of me will win lol.

I’ve read the Veldt before, and it’s as good as I remembered. I just adore his writing.

I’m enjoying the pacing so far.

Pretty annoyed right now. I don’t know if I’ll finish this one.

There’s all these invisible walls that keep everyone in line. And if if you refuse to see them, they just aren’t there anymore. Once you walk through the walls, they never come back up again.

Oh no please I can’t handle anyone else dying

Holy crap, I am obsessed with this. If I’m not reading about it, I’m thinking about it. I already know, have known since the airplane section, that this is going to get 5 starts. I trust the upcoming ending completely.

Oh no. Noooooooo. This book is going to wreck me.

I’ll never complain about the wait between published books again. This is a beast of a book, and it was worth every second it took to create it. I can’t wait to finish it, but I also want to read it forever.
