Nation-wide immunizations in 18 days?!? Now we’ve entered sci-fi territory.

Apparently we’re deep enough into this pandemic that I can handle reading about a different pandemic. I’d forgotten about the epidemic/quarantine in the “present-day” Oxford, and that’s the one that’s really resonating, in terms of how everyone responds to restrictions, shortages - there’s even a Brexit-ish moment where someone is protesting European control and open immigration. Whew.

Third time checking it out from the library - will I make it through this month?

"The law offices of Kenge & Carboy" - see, the great thing about rereading as an adult is that you pick up on the Dickens references.

This is one of those long-lost books - I read it as a child (with the pink cover) and then forgot the title and author - all I remembered was the general area of the library where I found it. I solved the mystery a few years ago, reordered it for the library, and now I'm finally rereading it. Whew.

The things I suffer for bookgroup...

I love Kate Atkinson's books. And I know the premise is that Ursula lives and dies over and over, trying to get it right, but it's killing me every time child Ursula dies. I need to get past her childhood already!

I've read all the sections on the early months and have mixed feelings on it - the most useful piece of information was to try to get baby to sleep before he's been awake 2 hours - this has helped a lot with naps.
