Third whopper of a book in a row. Over 500 pages in my copy. Easy read however.

Not a fan of the gruesomeness of recent pages, but l will stick with it. A pleasant enough read up to then :)

Gripping mystery set in a harsh rural Italian hamlet where monsters and humans were one and the same for the village kids. Childish games are a rehearsal and learning ground for adult dilemmas. Great novel that explores outgrowing childhood fantasies and the fear, and sometimes sheer horror, of coming to terms with the harsh truth of reality.
