It’s not getting better

I don’t know if I am going to like this book. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a young adult book.

“I felt, in my bones, an acceptance of men behaving badly, a value in not calling them out, in protecting a man’s belief in his own importance, and a premium placed on keeping such things private.”

I would like to think that they keep Ruth around because she feels like a character who may be special and may be the only one to not follow the fat layer out for them. But the more I think about it the more I wonder if they only do this to placate her. She’s been this way as a kid and is almost inconsolable if she isn’t.

I keep having to remind myself that this is a science fiction and that the setting is more of an dystopian society. There are mainly themes of loss, nostalgia and more.

Once again. Ruth is kind of a bitch. I get it but man.
