Verrrrry interested to see how this turns out. Definitely don't think this is the last we've seen of Richard and Libby.

The beginning has been a little vague for my taste, though that's largely due to the fact that I didn't actually read the blurb beforehand... I think I'm still expecting more magic than is actually present, though, and I'm not entirely sure why

Not gonna lie, Richard is living my dream life... I'm clawing my way toward my master's degree and this guy just gets to wake up whenever and read whatever he wants

I think because I'm someone who grasped the rules of most math I encountered pretty much immediately, sometimes the explanations here actively confuse me more than my calc classes did... whoops

I already know I won't be able to comment on this as a Learned Scholar -- I'm completely unfamiliar with the literature being referenced -- but even with that, this is a fascinating read so far.

I'm really honest to god not used to crying this early on in a book???? But apparently the trick is to just lay on the sibling feelings, and I'll become a human waterfall

I've been burned by just about every YA book I've picked up since like... 2016, but of course I'm gonna read YA if it's written by Magda Szabo.

Lots of editing mistakes, unfortunately, but otherwise I'm really enjoying this so far -- especially because this little hurricane of a Mary is so different from me and it's bizarre and delightful to read.

I almost wish I'd gotten to this before I watched the show -- still enjoying the experience of reading a different version of Geralt, but I definitely have the cast from the show in my head, and that's something that inevitably dampens my experience, just a little. Maybe that'll go away if I finish these before the next season/before I play the games?

This book has reignited the spark that I first found in fourth grade, when my class did what we called the Big History Lesson, a series of field trips and classes with guest speakers all dedicated to Michigan's history. I'm barely halfway through, but unless something absolutely wild happens between now and the end, this book is getting five stars and a place on my all-time faves list.

Apparently the audiobook format isn't available as an option on here? But I'm listening to this one. Enjoying finding out that Beatrix Potter was me when I was younger but without the anxiety disorders lolol

MY LAKES! Oh how I love them, and oh how I love reading things written by other people who love them. I'm having a blast.

Oops I'm reading #0.5 before #1??? I have no idea what order these books go in, but I'm having a good time, so I'm just going to plow ahead.

Picked this up on a whim, having virtually no personal stake in the topic but curious about what it might teach me nonetheless... ok, it was also pretty, don't judge me, I like nice covers >:( But also, I've already been able to draw a connection to another book I've read this year -- John Singer Sargent's name was dropped, so I had context that I wouldn't have had otherwise! I felt quite proud of myself.

"It was upsetting to me to see Arabs dancing in the streets because of the 9/11 attacks. I had a hard time watching people rejoice over killing and death even though I knew they hated us." So this was jarring as FUCK to read, and uh. Yeah. Definitely shouldn't have been included in the final publication. Has aged incredibly poorly, but also just doesn't provide any helpful context. Just demonizes "Arabs".

I really wanted to love this a lot more than I am right now... honestly, I think it's the writing. This story should, by all appearances, have me hooked. Mostly, it has me wanting it to get to the point, or at least stop hammering on the one it's currently on. And now that I've put words to it, I'm worried that I might end up DNFing. Oh dear.
