I love this. The MC struggles with her sudden death and becoming a reaper in a way I fully grok her internal conflicts and emotions.

I have alexithymia so I can't understand my own emotions, especially if they're so conflicted. I would not even know what the emotional mix related to.

Other characters are shrouded in mystery with hints of greater depth.

There's a hint of possible romance but I might be wrong.

I need a vampire story with a sapphic relationship with this author's writing style in a scifi setting so bad. High tech, far future, not cyberpunk, not post-apocalyptic--Firefly vibes would be good. Star Trek vibes as well. Anything in between.

This book is a modern Carmilla-esque story with depth to characters, levity, macabre, emotionally deep relationships, &c.

Seems okay so far. I'm a little confused about the world and its level of technology as electricity is brought up, atoms, and some other things not really present it fantasy.

Loving this so far. Ry Herman is a great storyteller and able to blend comedy, depression, and serious topics together perfectly.

I had to try several times to stop reading to do other tasks today. The entire book and it's concepts are fascinating. The sections where the POV is from those who are not remotely similar to humans are brilliant.

Not quite what I expected, but entertaining thus far. A good one for when my brain has little energy.

I have no idea where this is going. It might be the kind of the reading that compares to watching a B movie because it's bad but still entertaining.

It might end up as a DNF.

For some hilarious books in the fantasy genre, I recommend the books about Jason Cosmo by Dan McGirt. They're decades old, but the fantasy tropes the author pokes at are still the same today. Maybe I'll re-read those. It's been a awhile.

High dizziness and fatigue is slowing down my reading. It's frustrating because this book is so fascinating.
