Ugh!!!! Jane, you're infuriating!

Jane is an idiot.

I started reading this three times before I could get more than 50 pages in. It's painfully slow. Curiosity at the popularity & longevity of this title is what's kept me reading. But so far the language is the best part of the book. I find the plot severely lacking in momentum, & only redeemed by intriguing happenings here & there, but no over-arching conflict that I can identify. I'm assuming it'll get better...

I'm LOVING this book. It' relatively simple (not to be confused with easy), and some of it might make you think "Well I knew that!", but very few of us do what we know (the book even says so).

It's all framed as a commitment to change, and it's in manageable chunks of change. Each day is small enough to digest.

I had high hopes for this book after reading the description, and the narrative seemed promised as I started reading.

The narrator keeps sayings things like "Hang in there," "Humor me," "It'll be worth it, I promise" But so far it hasn't been worth it. There's no tangible lot I can pick out: The story starts with a woman at her parent's house. She is then spurred on a never ending trip down memory lane.

I had high hopes for this book after reading the description, and the narrative is interesting. I really want to like it. But something is "off".

So far so good. I an not as drawn to this book as others and have to make a bit more of an effort to pick it up. Not a good sign more than a quarter of the way in. And the language doesn't seem quite what I would expect given it's supposed to be the 60's, not that I was around.....some plot elements have gotten the better of my curiosity though.
