Set in California early 2000's, retired Dt. Bosch and Dt. Ballard made a promise to a recovering addict mom to solve the 9-year old abduction and murder of her teenage daughter. In their investigation, they seek to pin this crime on local gang members while the murderer is just a notation in a murder book away. A predictable simple read.
