Loving it, some of the graphical typeface stylizing require a magnifying glass (especially if the reading light is suboptimal) but well worth the trouble.

Looking forward to the second half.

Second half update:
The story pulled its threads together satisfactorily and the plot got significantly bigger, as it sorta needed to do owing to 1000 pages or so Still very happy with it. Onward!

Brian is reading The Divine Invasion
I found it highly original and deeply layered, a lot packed into 250 or so pages. Recommend for anyone who likes their science and mythology all mixed up.

Can a nation be murdered? Can it also commit suicide?

The opening paragraph grabs you and it never lets go. Brilliant.

What a bleak, enlightening, depressing, enthralling examiniation of the motives and dynamics that lead Europe to destruction...it is like watching a wreck, you just can't look away. If you are a war hawk I would dare you to hold to that ideology after reading this book...they dysfunction of war laid bare and the folly revealed.

Just started this...but if the first 15 pages are any indication , it is going to be a great read. Very visual imagery and juxtaposition

Brian is finished with On the Shoulders of Giants: The Great Works of Physics and Astronomy
Gonna put this aside for now...really nothing more than a reprinting of the original works of Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Einstein without any comment or insight...there were some short intro bios but hardly worth carrying around the 1200 page book. Quite a slog unfortunately. I will pick it back up in a couple of months to finish it off, but very unsatisfying.

Quite a wide ranging book, surprisingly detailed and i am impressed greatly with houw the author strung together the events into a coherent and contiguous pattern that ties them together very well.
