I’m afraid I’ve given in at half way. This book is just a mountain of nothing happening and repetitive dialogue. The characters are bland, the story shallow and I am bored. However I did really enjoy the same author with Withered Hill.

So only Mr Konrath can turn a seemingly ridiculous plot into an addictive, rampant cat and mouse thriller! I’m hooked! (No pun intended - if you know, you know).

Okay so only Mr Konrath can turn a ridiculous plot into a hilarious, addictive, cat and mouse crime thriller. I’m hooked (if you know, you know)!

So I’m a bit dubious whether I’m gonna be able to carry on if cloning historic American figures IS actually what is going on here!? Because that is just daft.

Enjoying The Caretaker so far, is spine-tinglingly creepy at times which is very impressive.

Every single word is like liquid nectar. How the author can create such a vivid, pulsating reading experience is beyond me.

Some really great characters so far. I’m worried for them!

Slow going at the moment.

All I can think right now is ‘OH DEAR’ and am feeling dread and anxiety already.

I am really enjoying myself with this! Absolutely fab wacky characters, a Wild West trail and a race against time to save Carol!

What the actual f**k is going on?! This is great, having a fab time reading this :0)

I have not been able to put it down since I started reading it a couple of hours ago!! Absolutely enthralling! Definitely some kind of puzzle going on under the surface. Excellent writing style, extremely engaging. I have to go to bed shortly, how will I cope?!

Every word seems to be demanded to be read. It’s a little slow in revealing anything substantial.

Not far in and I’m struggling a bit. It’s like swimming through treacle. So many characters and the writing is very much jumping from one time to another with no warning. I will persevere.

I think this is one of the longest books I have ever read. But it isn’t like climbing a mountain, more like a very long walk on a sunny day! And it is about an apple :0) a dark red apple, dark as blood. Still got another 4 hrs to go.

How can a story about apples be so f**king magnificent?!

OH MY GOD

Reading this book is like unwrapping a beautiful gift. It is a glorious hidden gem that I don’t want to end. The writing is so eloquent, with a narrative that is surprisingly addictive. The diction is just beautifully chosen and created like a rare work of art that I find so utterly satisfying. I am excited at every new chapter.

J.A. Konrath certainly knows how to write intense suspense! It’s got me cringing and holding my breath in trepidation. Really well written, with vivid imagery like I’m watching a movie.

SO GOOD!!

Getting better as it progresses!!

Struggling, boring and not engaging so far.

I’m enjoying The Fisherman, but it is very slow going. It’s so well written that you read every word without skimming - this is rare for me. The imagery is gob-smackingly vivid and spectacular in places.
