Again, I'm reading this to my invalid wife to spend time together. It's a story about two young ladies growing up in Harmony, North Carolina. One wants to be a scientist, the other to be a wife and mother. Both young ladies have very honorable dreams.

Diana and I are reading as a pass time. The word "deceit" was dropped in the last chapter, we almost didn't notice. It seems to be a foreshadowing that the characters in the story are not as they seem.
