I think I've tried to read this book before, which in good timing supports my recent decision to keep more DNFs on my shelf, even the not-controversial ones, if just for myself.

your writing group is not always right, friends. today mine tried to convince me that online banking didn't exist in 2005.

how casual readers think publishing works: "writers need to write more books about X so they get published"
how publishing actually works: "as an agent I didn't connect to the character, so I'm going to decide this book doesn't need to be published"

Social media in a book is an instant DNF from me.

I am picking up a book because I *don't* want to deal with real life and its horrible obsession(s).

can't ANYONE write a book that does not go on and on about sex, or at least handles it respectfully!!?!?!?!?!?
