Call me slow, but I'm only starting to realise men's hockey romance is probably its own genre - and has been for a while. #heatedrivalry

Still having mixed thoughts about Heated Rivalry's series...but it made me re-read the 2 books about Shane and Ilya once more.

Books have been my escape route through a turbulent 2024 and 2025. Maybe not quite looking to use them as a crutch so much in 2026. (right).

It's often people's (and GR friends') reviews that help decide whether I'll even bother to pick it up or take if off the TBR list.

Not true that the slower the burn is, the better. I'm sure I'd like the burn to happen sometime in my own lifetime.

Wish there'd be a note outright if a book contains polyamory/throuple/orgies or whatever name they call it these days instead of letting me guess by the cover or a blurb that tries hard to say everything and nothing at all.

Wasn't there a time when boobs in books were typically described as 'perky'?!

Really wish there were some warnings about tropes I absolutely hate before I even pick that up to read.

Has anyone ever re-read 1980-90s type fiction that's got what was considered cutting-edge technology (but is absolutely outdated and non-existent now)? It just feels morbidly fascinating/horrifying to read about how tech used to be, especially right now in 2023.

Feeling somewhat sad that the number of books as my reading goal this year is the lowest it has ever been. (And still steadily dropping)

Every time I think I'm about to read something new and exciting, I read the reviews (thank god for them!) and my enthusiasm tanks immediately.

Just going back as early a 2010-ish and I still find books that portray female/male relationships in a way that infuriate the hell out of me.

Is anyone hating GR's new format?

The need to keep someone safe (i.e., a protective instinct) is too often fully equated with a character who is 'falling in love'.
