James Ritchie is on page 79 of 192 of Sea Kayaker's Deep Trouble: True Stories and Their Lessons from Sea Kayaker Magazine
Even though this book was published in 1997, most of the stories included seem to be from the mid-1980s. And, the author explains, because sea kayaking in its modern form more or less started in the Pacific Northwest, most of the stories seem to take place in that area. And they are truly SEA kayaking stories, as in the Pacific Ocean. Most of the stories deal with 45-degree water and 30-ish degree air temperatures.

James Ritchie is on page 372 of 509 of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West
It is remarkable, after reading of the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Indian men, women, and children, how little we have learned or progressed in the 150 years since Chief Joseph stated his famous "I will fight no more forever". Who among us has the courage to do so?
