Probably deserves a half-star more but this sequel really does nothing to progress the Dilbian culture introduced in the first book. It’s charming and folksy but severely underdeveloped. Just more of the same.

“Beauty Is...” is the better story of the two collected here. But both are well written. The ending wasn’t what I hoped. Bit of a cop out. But so worth reading.

Compellingly written, non-stop action and an unusual take on the Bigfoot story

Much better than Cunningham's over praised The Abyss. Still inappropriate in all the right ways but with much more likable characters and a compelling cinematic approach.

I usually love Simak. This one felt like it was written by a 10 year old under an assumed name.

Off-putting early horror tale that was much improved upon by Stephen King with Desperation. Not an official remake but close enough.

Hoped for more info on the Jazz Butcher and Love and Rocket Years, but sadly they earn no more than a paragraph in a three hundred page book. The end result is something the gives Bauhaus lead singer Peter Murphy exactly what he’s looking for: more attention.

Apocalyptic angle is a welcome change from the other books in the series. Goes out on a high note. But still not much of a trilogy. Stick with the vampire books.

I've been waiting for this series to finally live up to its kinky, sexist S&M reputation. And this is the book that finally goes there. "To my lips, Slave Girl!" Ridiculous stuff but still escapist entertainment built around a story that no less offensive than Fifty Shades of Grey. Maybe it gets worse. I'll stop here and end the adventure.

Not what I wanted or expected. Cheesy monster fun is interrupted by strange Clive Cussler-esque plotting and tough guy witticism.

Promising beginning. Lots of gooey space monsters on a strange planet. But a terribly plotted final 50 pages.

Slight story. Felt like part of a series that was cut off

Other than a very literate writing style, this Grant story has nothing going for it besides a slew of wasted opportunities.
