Reading this after watching trigun stampede is probably giving me a different read/vibe than most ppl when it comes to the white saints. Also idk why but I didn't expect religion to be the main theme lol this is gonna be.... interesting? I'm not really interested or like religion despite being passively religious but everything else here seems interesting

The intro was an entire rollercoaster ride about this author. He's insane. This book is about to be amazing.

I need these girls to be a tad bit smarter they're being a bit too frustrating. The Mad Queen is cool tho and very interesting

Honestly this entire family disgusts me with Howard & Virgil being the worst. Like I gag everytime Howard opens his mouth. Anyways I'm getting heavy Get Out vibes, vampires, human sacrifices, eternal life at a cost. The sexism and racism is near impossible to read thru. Naomí is about to go thru some shit and I'm scared for her. I think those dreams are real which means she's been raped w/o realizing it, fucking hell

Idk why a short book like this is taking me so long to finish. It might be that the writing style and unexplained magical realism as well as me not being fully interested or captivated by the story is making this a slow read

Its so whimsical and dark and the writing style is unique in a way I can't explain so it's slow reading to understand what exactly is happening.

The racism the characters of colour face makes me wanna rip out my hair. I wish Biggs or Riggs whatever his name is a very much Die 😌 (I wish we could add pics here, this won't make sense without the bugs bunny in a suit meme pic)

The relationship and the interactions between Jo and Mrs. Payne are the most interesting and Jo's work with the column is as well but we are just starting so there's not much yet

Started kinda slow and I couldn't really see the connection between the ragtag team (still kinda can't but love the betrayal theme and i count that as a sorta connection but no found family vibes imo) but close to the halfway mark the plot started and other than random pauses for character backstory, we are flying thru. If I wasn't so exhausted I would finish this in the next hour or 2. Absolutely wild right now

It's okay so far. I have a bad feeling it's gonna get dark fast, especially given the trigger warnings on the first page. I also read the author's note first and I'm horrified he went thru a hazing so traumatic.

On a separate note, idk why I keep picking up high school stories, I don't enjoy them and they give me anxiety lmao high school and teens are scary

This is an incredibly dense book. It's basically a textbook so it's gonna take me AWHILE to get thru it. History of religions are so interesting 🤔

It's Ramadan. Time to learn about my religion cuz despite growing up in it, I know next to nothing about it. And it's time I learn what was religion and what was culture from the things I was taught throughout my life.

Why are his works so dark??? The one before was dark but at least matched it with the tone. This is kinda disturbing but has a comedic tone to it wtf lmaoo. Let's see where this goes. So far the characters in this are less likeable and I feel really bad for our main character but he's kinda an asshole too but that's prolly since I don't have all the info yet.

Pretty good so far. I like our main characters. The writing style is easy to read & paints shimmery heavenly scenes that are so fantastical it's sometimes hard to imagine. The aesthetic is on point. I wonder if there will be romance. I wouldn't mind either way, I like our leads with or without it. It's the start so it is slow but is picking up. I literally have no clue how it will progress so I feel impatient/excited
