I found this book by searching for books narrated by the talented Cassandra Campbell. Surprised the title is new to me.

Frankie just returned home from 2 (1-year tours) in Vietnam as an Army surgical nurse. She is spat upon, called names like baby killer. Taxi drivers spurned her when she was in uniform. This kind of abuse is largely a myth. I am disappointed Hannah included it.

I am a god of promise.

Addie: "Some nights you love to see me suffer, so that I willl yield. Other you seem intent to spare me from it. I do wish you'd make your mind. ...
"Trust me, my dear. You do not."....
"Do not mistake this, any of this, Adeline, for kindness. ... I simply want to be the one who breaks you."

Paul Michael, excellent narrator! I'm enjoying the book! Many people and events weaving a sense of the times and events. I feel prepared for what's coming next, not distracted!

I am FASCINATED by the Scottish vocabulary, slang, and audio narration. Even when I slo-owed down the narration, there were times I just couldn't figure out the names, words. So I checked out the kindle versionThis book is going to take a while because I keep looking up things.

Reviewers say the ending is worth waiting for. Right now I feel like I'm slogging through it - and Lulu's constant drivel. Looking forward to reading the ending.

Rebecca was incredible: Rebecca Boone raised ten of her own children and eight nephews and nieces that she and Daniel had adopted. Since Daniel was away for extended hunting and exploration trips, sometimes for several years at a time, Boone generally raised and protected their eighteen children by herself. Living in the frontier and needing to be self-reliant, she was a hea

Very interesting - published in 1990. Friends lent me this a couple of months ago. With the recent increased hateful violence in Israel and the Gaza strip, it helps understand Palestinian history. I do not condone the violence and killings.

I have started almost from the beginning and am reading the ebook version. For whatever reason, I am enjoying the print version much more than the audio. I'm not engaging in the audio version. I'm paying more attention to the story and its historical aspects. Just can't read the print while I'm taking a walk or working with my hands!

AI've learned a more historically accurate book is Sir Walter and Mr. Jones : Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones, and the rise of American golf
by Lowe, Stephen R. Knowing that, it makes it less motivated to keep on reading to finish this book.

I cannot believe how addicting this audio is! One thing I notice is that Follett usually reminds the reader of the significance of a character or event when it comes up again in the story. Good thing to do in a book over 1000 pages/41 hours long! I also enjoy learning history through good stories. (Like in the Outlander series!)

What a struggle to keep track of characters--the family trees pdf is of some help, but not enough! I had to buy the kindle version as well as the audio version to try and figure out who's who. I'm enjoying the audio version, but am not getting the full understanding.

I don't want to stop listening to this! Louise is narrating the audio version (and Louise is also a character in this novel!). I feel like I've been invited into a contemporary Native American extended family with all its quirks and humanity! I'm laughing part of the time. I can't possibly keep up with all the writers and books mentioned, so look forward to perusing the pdf listing them all.

Cute Hallmark-style romance with a little steam. But it is twice as long as it could be. Tired of these stupid back and forth, never-thought-about-best-friend could be more than friends. A bit tedius!

A friend lent me this book-she used it to help plan their visit-every-national-park trips. I'm on #12 in the book. I'm frustrated that I don't know what state they're in at times. I have to locate each place on a map to give me an anchor to read about each place ¿Will I stick with it to the end?

I enjoyed the illustrated version of this. I remember scoring the text to match up the gorgeous illustrations with meaningful passages. This happened to pop up as available from my library and I'm giving it a go. Great read while I'm (sheltering in place) away from the city. Trees everywhere.
