attempting to phrase this in the most polite way possible, thoughts so far:
- takes a lot of energy to read (emotionally, from accumulating irritation)
- never has a book before reminded me of how it felt to be a teenager (the characters are older, although apparently, not emotionally)

How does Duchess simultaneously understand and Not understand people so

irritation at one character or another carried me rapidly through the past 100 pages. i guess i will warm up to them gradually?
