I'm reading for a book club and not sure I'll be able to finish. Even though it's short and should be a quick read, I am not finding this book interesting at all.

I'm a middle aged white woman. The author's descriptions of how black people are treated in the south is chilling. As you're reading, you feel the tension. I'm uncomfortable reading this, I cannot imagine how it feels to be treated like that. The story so far is very interesting, but for the racial tension alone, Attica Locke has my utmost respect for making that feel so real for the reader.

Having a hard time with this. It's interesting, but now feels weird to read about a coach that got Penn State up and running again only to know that he's already left. I read about 1 chapter a week, so I'll probably finish by the bowl games.

Read this as a kid and it made me love reading for pleasure. Three chapters in and I'm realizing 1) the writing isn't that great and 2) I don't care, I'm still entertained.

I've fallen asleep every time I've picked up this book. I'm pissed off that her husband brings over $10k home a month and yet she's crying poor. I actually hate her, yet I'm still reading. Not sure if I'm hoping she comes to her senses or if she really, really struggles.

We need to talk about how much I hate the narrator of this book. Just got a glimpse into Kevin's disturbing mind, so that's keeping me interested. But Eva, his mother, is so pretentious I can't handle it.

The previous reader (found this at a yard sale) wrote on the inside cover that they read this in 2004 and it was "excellent!". So far, they're pretty accurate.

There was just a brief paragraph I read that I can't get out of my mind. Which stinks because it doesn't even apply to the plot. - A little girl took two juice boxes, twisted the straws and therefore, drinks out of both boxes at the same time. - I'm sorry, but either that's a stroke of genius or I'm a complete tool because I can hardly get one straw into the stupid little juice box!

This is going to take me a while to get through b/c there's an online chapter guide with more paintings. I'm already in love with this book, though - impressionist paintings, Paris, the color blue and my favorite author all rolled into one! A nerd girl's dream!

I just borrowed this book from Amazon Prime. The confirmation told me that I'm the only person in the world that hasn't read this! (Just kidding, but I wouldn't be surprised)! Jumping on the bandwagon now.

It bothers me when authors use trendy names for "older" characters. The subjects in the book are in their 30s and 40s with names like Jake, Abby, Jane, Annabel. Sure they're not crazy names and they have existed for a long time, but what are the chances? Where are the Kathy's, Michael's, Tom's, Jen's? Sorry, rant over.

I bought this at "Yia-yia's attic" - the flea market component of our local Greek church's fair. In large print. It cracks me up b/c I'm sure someone bought it thinking it was a nice story about their Greek ancestors written by a nice Greek boy. And then they got about 20 pages in and it probably went right to the donation bin after that!

Scanned through the whole thing. Pretty basic information (processed foods are bad! vegetables are good!), but that's to be expected. I'll give it a real review once I go through the program. But I will say this now: do not buy the kindle version. It's formatted weird and some parts reference particular pages which are hard to find.

99 cent kindle book and now I see why. I'd normally put down a book this dumb by now, but I'm fascinated by how bad it is! I've never read a monotone book before and some of the scenarios are insane. She's been dating the same guy for 14 years, so I'll give the "I don't know how to flirt" premise, but the fact that she doesn't know how to talk to a stranger?! Please, not buying it.

I don't know how middle-school kids can read this, it's taking me so long to get through myself (and I have to supplement with ridiculous chick-lit)! That said, I'm enjoying what I'm reading so far. I've even started naming the rabbits I see on my morning walk as characters from the book, so you can see it's getting to me!

It annoys me a little bit that this kid can read, know fractions and know vocabulary words that are well above his age level but still says hotted instead of heated and remembered instead of reminded. I'm probably just being too picky, because otherwise it's a really interesting read.

"I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions". Love that quote, I'm stealing it. I'm liking this book more than Dry (the only other one I've read by him). Very dark but amusing, I can't help but laugh at some parts.
