Farsight by Phil Kelly - definitely my favorite thing I've read by Phil Kelly, though that's not a high bar. I more enjoyed the first half of the story, which focused mostly on tau social strata, rather than the second, where my favorite part was O'Shoh gets exiled, but basically treats it like an assignment & just comes back aboard when he has findings. Was he flaunting procedure, or is that typical tau? Who knows.

Chapter Two: We are introduced to Marvel Comics' Wolverine™. Everyone from our main crew basically says, 'Oh, hey, it's Marvel Comics' successful property Wolverine™. It'd be cool to have Marvel Comics' Wolverine™ on our team.' And for no other reason, they bring him on. This possibly causes friction?

Chapter One: Apparently we're in Australia? Our main characters are in Queensland, surrounded by convicts. Oh, wait, they're on a ship, and ... oh, dear Christ, the main character, Dred, REALLY calls her land Queensland b/c she's the queen of her section? Ouch.

the von Carsteins was great. The finale, I thought, lacked some oomph, but overall I was well pleased with it. Overall I think G&F work much better in short story / novella format, with an occasional novel thrown into the mix.

Since this is four sizable short stories, I'll have to keep updating this.

#1 "Charnel Congress" by Josh Reynolds. Pure fun from beginning to NEARLY the end. Reynolds has probably the best intro for Gotrek I've ever seen (I've read the first 6 or 7 of the "in canon" novels ... I thought Long was a great idea for a replacement, but felt the series was maybe beyond saving at that point). And the idea of bringing in
