Stephanie is starting The Girl with Seven Names: A North Korean Defector's Story
A harrowing account of the author’s escape from North Korea and later, the loved ones she also got out. A lot went right, but a lot went wrong; difficult for many to grasp, sitting in our democratic societies with our freedoms. This has given me even more respect for those who make the awful decisions to leave.

I was quite surprised to start reading and not see the familiar names, but what a great start to a new series!! Osman’s books are such fun and I look forward to the next one.

Stephanie is starting The Funeral Ladies of Ellerie County
I enjoyed the setting and storyline, but wish authors would not include such foul language. It didn’t get bad until I was invested in the story and it nearly ruined the book for me. It’s just not necessary.

Stephanie is starting The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane
This book has made me so angry and sad that I can’t continue for now. Murder of perfectly healthy babies, non-acceptance of anything or anyone different, and banishment for conceiving those healthy twins, all under the excuse of “We are Akha.”

I enjoyed the first few chapters, learning about deaf culture and how to be more sensitive.

These stories are intense! I read the first book and listened to this one, but got the same feeling in both: conversations are tense and always sound angry. I guess that’s because I’m not military. This was tough to put down; I felt pulled through the book. Masterful weaving of storyline and excellent writing. Now I need a nap!

Wow, don’t want to spoil this for anyone, so am not sure what to write, except this was such a good book. It’s a little confusing at first, but hang in there and keep reading. I promise you’ll be stunned and challenged in your faith. Thompson is an excellent writer.
