I Imagine this is what Hamilton and Angelica sounded like when conversing. I find myself having to look up every fifth word just to follow along. The story is great though

Literally pg.1 and the writing is already so beautiful 🥹😩

I'm bored. There's only so many times I can read the same underdog, trial based, overpowered Fl fantasy story and not get tired.

Even the banter between the FL and the ML feels recycled, the characters as of right now just don't feel interesting at all. Only person mildly intriguing is thatcher, the main characters brother. But we'll see, surprises could be very well on their way

Whew, what a dense read!
Feels like i'm struggling to read above my grade level lol. But I am enjoying it, paul farmer's background as an anthropologist really shines through in the way he writes. Its a very eye opening read to the systems that shape what we understand as "human rights" and access to care!

Favorite quote so far: "The poor are those whose greatest task is to try to survive"

Having a great time working my way through this series! However, I am feeling a little fatigued

My biggest gripe about books that write from multiple character perspectives is, I usually only care about 2/4 characters we're hearing from. So now I'm bored everytime we switch to a certain person's (Helene) perspective, even though I don't hate her, its just...she's not where the action is, sorry.

This reads like a wattpad story 🫠

Hopefully this book can cleanse my palette from the shit storm of a book I just read (Glow of the everflame)

Couldn't finish :( Its not like the book is bad or anything. I would just rather not sit through pages of the thoughts and mannerisms of yucky men. I'd rather live in ignorance, cause some of the "interviews" and mannerisms of some of the people in this book really unnerved me.

Every time I pick up a book that has to do with slavery, a different kind of rage fills me, but so far so good lol

Unfortunately, I have a enemies to lovers romance itch that needs to be scratched, and this book is not doing that😞 A good read though, I’m really liking this whole regency, period piece thing.

It’s actually going really good so far, buttttt this is usually the point in stories where I put it down cause the authors ruin a really good storyline. Hopefully that isn’t the case for this book, I guess we’ll see.

Ummm, I think uninspiring is the word.

I'm bored, the story is plateauing, its so similar to ACOTAR so far, ummm fingers crossed it gets better :(

It's giving ACOTAR in a really odd way, I think it's just because of the overlap in the lore of faeries

Good book so far, I know it's a memoir, and the way the author's younger self processes the things around her is so sad :( But so far I'm enjoying it!

Ummm, so far so mid, ayoola is written like a wattpad character unfortunately, and korede is consistently giving woe is me😒 umm, I’m interested to see where the plot goes, and not because of the writing, just purely because the relationship between the sisters is interesting.

Ummm, the book is falling flat. Maybe it's because I just finished reading a more emotionally gripping book before hand, but it's giving boring. Like it was put through chat and you asked it to simplify it and make it easy to understand. Idk, I think I am speaking too soon

I’m dreading the way the book will end, I feel like there is impending doom approaching. Especially since I know how the Biafra war ended, so reading how people are celebrating nd singing about Biafra, knowing full well they are not going to make it
