It’s a slow book to read in short bursts, but I’m making progress.

I don't like this. It would be fine if there were more emphasis on whose head you were in when it swapped POVs, you just have figure it out. Also, the only one that is somewhat consistent is Remedios, so I don't understand why they didn't use limited third person instead, or they could have just stuck with first person with only Remedios. I think it detracts from the story to have all this confused jumping around.
