understanding the convos around this book being excessive… my initial impression is a shared suspicion about a person experiencing all of this even existing, but 1. maybe they do and 2. maybe depicting a real person isn’t the goal? but yanagihara’s argument that some people are just lost causes isn’t really supported if the example she’s using is a fabrication. but maybe it isn’t! ahhh!
