I had such high hopes for this. But so far it’s full of a bunch of characters I cannot discern between other than Jason Bourne.

Not to mention there’s no urgency, flat dialogue, and repetition of items that makes this nothing like what I was expecting.

I’m not loving this. I can see why people like it and think it would be a fine movie. But for me? Nah.

I thought this was a trilogy but it’s gonna be 5 books?! I guess it makes sense. This feels like a filler/side quest book for Rey.

I’m liking it more than expected

This reads like a wattpad book. The lack of explanations doesn’t both me knowing it’s a series, but I don’t understand why the setting had to be a school.

What are they learning as 17/18 year olds for CENTURIES. also the dialogue is cringey as all get out. It reads like a 13 year old wanting to be 18 if that makes sense.

I’m simultaneously convinced that people didn’t actually read this book on tiktok etc. because how can you say this is too academic and blunt but yet miss the romance?

I will read anything Kuang writes

This book is convincing me media literacy is dead. Because it’s about academia, how do you not think it would be academic in some way.

This is just making me mad. She like legit is just mean and doesn’t have redeeming qualities and the podcast feels like she’s trying to do Bobbie.

I made it a good chunk in. I’m bored and keep either closing the book or counting how many pages left every page. Maybe I’ll come back.

It’s gotten slightly better. The writing is fine but I don’t like Glokta so I’m not having the best time.
