I am half way through this book. As always Rose Tremain crafts an interesting story. Part of the story is set in Switzerland before and during the Second World War. Alongside runs a story that is set in the 1990s with the same characters. It's certainly kept me interested!

I'm disappointed so far. Theroux's books usually paint a picture of his travels. For some reason this isn't happening. The writing is lack lustre and it's more an account of his travels rather hfs. The experience. It's a long book so will persevere but it needs to up the game!

I am disappointed as other of his books have been more humorous and paint a picture that you can develop in your mind. This isn't happening on this occasion. Will persevere for a little bit longer but it's a very long book so it needs to up its game!

A rather bland unbelievable novel. Although explicit decriptive scenes of violence I did not find the book convincing. A rather disappointing read.

A very easy read with a feel good factor. However, definitely a work of fiction as the experiences described would not have worked out as easily and as comfortably.

A gripping read probably because although it is far fetched I sort of feel it could happen in the USA!

Not a good read

I'm enjoying it although not halfway through yet. Quite a poignant story focussing on growing old and looking back!

30% in and I am enjoying it. Although it has the makings of a sad story around growing old and looking back I am still enthral led!

I've given up but it will be on my holiday reading list.

Gave up did not find interesting or a good read!
