Okay; I hated the first book. I’ll admit to being mildly irritated this book got all the hype whilst we have a perfect dragon riding trilogy like The Aurelian Cycle out in the universe.
Needless to say, I refuse to be the person to 💩 on a book without reading it.

40% into the audiobook (11 hours 🥴) and it’s not a good time.
I’m not subjecting myself to another 17 hours to see if it gets better.

I loved the premise of Elantris, and wanted to see MORE from that plot line, however the rest of it moved at a slug pace. The political intrigue wasn’t enough to keep me … well… intrigued.

Okay, after some thought... I think I’m DNFing this book. And that’s very hard for me to say, being a huge PD fan.

I’m not a fan of “parental” love interests. It’s icky and not my thing at all, Jake shifts between being a father figure to love interest farrrr too many times for it to be okay with me.

Then there’s the whole family sharing element. It’s all kinda incentive and weird. I can’t deal.

I started out with the audiobook... and Laney’s accent was SO CRINGEWORTHY. I just couldn’t do it.

So I ended up switching over to reading on my kindle... and I truly tried picking it up to read on a few different occasions. But it’s not holding my interest. Sad to DNF this one, but it’s not for me
