Doing the right thing isn’t about accolades or recognition…

he was well liked bc he only ever said the things people wanted to hear. He taught me that. To say what people want to hear, not necessarily the truth, bc most people tell you they want to hear the truth, but they do not, and if you tell the truth it will come back to bite you like a snake finding its own tail to swallow…my mother taught the opposite, that if we do not say the truth we have nothing. People rarely change their opinions when they’re argued with. They only tend to listen to the voices of those they already agree with.

Survivors don’t tend to be nice people; niceness gets crushed out of them like juice out of a grape. A lot of it had been crushed out of me too.

So we’re supposed to believe an entire construction crew is going to let Jet take a sledge hammer to the new foundation of the house they’re working on 🙄

You should remember that a pawn is the most magical piece of all. It might look small and ordinary, but it isn’t, because a pawn is never just a pawn. A pawn is a queen in waiting. All you need to do is to find a way to keep moving forward…and you can get to the other side and unlock all kinds of power.

Maybe that was the only meaning that mattered. To be the world witnessing itself. Maybe it wasn’t the lack of achievements that had made her and her brother’s parents unhappy, maybe it was the expectation to achieve in the first place.

If you aim to be something you are not you will always fail. Aim to be you. Aim to look, and act, and think like you. Aim to be the truest version of you. Embrace that youness, endorse it, love it, work hard at it, and don’t give a second thought when people mock it or ridicule it. Most gossip is envy in disguise.

People with stamina aren’t made any differently than anyone else…the only difference is that they have a clear goal in mind and a determination to get there. Stamina is essential to stay focused in a life filled with distraction. It is the ability to stick to a task when your body and mind are at their limit. The ability to keep your head down…without looking around worrying who might overtake you.
